This intervention is being held for all of those couples out there that think it's acceptable to eat dinner on the same side of the booth. I would apologize for offending anyone with this post, but I'm not, because it needs to stop. If you're offended, stop your actions.
My girls and I were out to a super fancy dinner at Chili's the other night when we noticed a couple sitting on the same side of the booth. We noticed the couple was not originally sitting on the same side of the booth, but relocated to - get this - take pictures together with their cell phones. Someone mentioned that maybe it was a first date so they wanted a picture. Well, that just raises more issues. Just say no. Luckily this couple was able to separate and go to their individual sides of the booth. Thank goodness, the comfort level rose for everyone around them I'm sure.
The booth seat sharing is just awkward for all parties involved. You're eating your food, awkwardly turning to talk to each other yet still keep your head over your plate to you don't drop food on yourself, and staring at the empty side of the booth at the same time. While other people in the restaurant are dealing with the reality that you really are sitting on the same side of the booth.
I'm apparently missing the allure of the same side of the booth seating arrangement. I don't get it and hope I never do.
First of all, fancy dinner at Chili's? Girl, we need to get you out more:)
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I think booth sitting is reserved for high school kids and the elderly. You have to admit, it's kind of cute with two 80 yr old.
