Reality check

Today my department had our annual Christmas luncheon/ party. Last year we bowled, this year we ate lots of food. Every year we collect food or toys or money to donate to local charities. This year was the year for toys. After the luncheon a few of us went to the Christmas Cheer location to drop off the goods. As we were collecting all the bags and toys out of the back of the van a lady walked up to us and asked if we were taking them to Christmas Cheer. When we told her yes she informed us while trying to hold back tears that she is a veteran that was just recently laid off, and if it weren't for the charity she wouldn't be able to give her kids a Christmas. Wow talk about a reality check. I may be making another visit down there with more goods next week.
