I know I'm weird and get worked up about stupid stuff, but being harrassed when I'm shopping is one of those things that gets me worked up. This morning I walked into a store, a store that I frequently visit and isn't really all that tough to navigate, to a greeting from the other side of the store from a guy peeking out of a back room. Really dude, no need to yell, it's still early. I walk directly to what I need to buy, because remember I'm there a lot, and as I'm walking to check out another girl comes out of an aisle to make sure I found everything I was looking for. Luckily this same sales associate opens another register to help me, and saves me from having to check out with Ernestine - my least favorite employee there. Now, it may not be Ernestine's fault that I dislike her so much, it may be the fact that my favorite employee, Lumpy, is no longer there. Yes, true story, her name tag said Lumpy. And she rocked.
I'm the same way when I shop for anything. Just leave me alone and if I have a question, I promise I will ask you. The more you follow me around the store and check on me the more I want to walk out the door. I appreciate the enthusiasm but there is definitely a difference between being helpful and available and being annoying and harrassing.
That is all for today's rant.
Funny. Reminded me of the ridiculous experience checking out at Polo. With customers 8 deep in each line, they decide it was the perfect time to collect every customer's personal information...name, address, phone number, email address (thankfully, I didn't have one that day). Then the girl was too dumb to know how to spell Vicki....as she asked VIKI? Close enough!
