I'm back from New York, and only slightly exhausted. It was a great weekend that I'm so lucky to have been a part of. Getting to see some of the K Academy guys was awesome and I had the chance to meet new lots of new people.
We had lunch at Old Oaks Country Club after I rode around on the golf cart and watched the boys play golf Friday. We left immediately after lunch and headed to Hooperstown to get ready for the evaluation games. The games went well, the draft was fairly quick and we headed out to dinner. One of the organizers of the event had the draft dinner at his house, with cocktails in the backyard and then we all had dinner on his basketball court. The night ended early for me because at that point I was absolutely exhausted.
Saturday started with a 5:30 wake up call for breakfast before the day of basketball began. Unfortunately the hotel has a 1 hour break in room service, and it's nearly impossible to get anything to eat from 6 to 7 in the morning. So after a little bit of breakfast we headed back to Hooperstown to start the day. There were 5 basketball games, ending with the championship game. Coach Collins, from Duke, was on the championship team. He's had a banner year.
Dinner last night was at Old Oaks again, and was extremely nice. They put together such a great event, we started with cocktail hour and then dinner. The programming included a video about the foundation and a live auction. The night was great and it was fantastic ending to the weekend.
Luckily my travels this weekend were non-eventful but that means I didn't really get any great stories from the airport or the planes. I'm happy to report that everyone followed the rules I've referenced on my blog before. Now it's back to the real world and work and class tomorrow.
