I hope you all have exciting plans of eating lots of food, hanging out with friends and family, sleeping in, and lounging on the couch watching football. Mix that with some wine and beers and I'll be right there with you.

The Dirty D
I'll be heading back home tomorrow to spend Thanksgiving with the family in Durham, and I'm so ready for it. No matter how much I talk about how bad Durham is, I'm still so ready to go back there because it's home and it's comfortable and it's where my friends and family are. I believe it was last year during one of my visits home when my dad and I were looking at random stuff online and came across an awesome blog, Endangered Durham. I love looking back at pictures of old houses and stores in Durham, and often wish I grew up in the 50s and 60s when things were simpler, cars were cool, and people could walk around on the streets. My parents and one set of grandparents grew up in Durham, with the other set living there randomly over the years. The old Durham that's shown in many of these pictures looks so cool, safe, and kind of like something you would see in a movie. If only we could go back in time for a little bit I'm sure I would appreciate living in today's world more. Below is one of my favorite pictures from Endangered Durham. It was taken in 1954 outside of the Fire Station #1 in Durham, where my Papa worked. We've shown him the picture and he knows the guy in the driver's seat, and we think he's actually standing in the back, behind the truck. Which I think is very cool.
