First night of T-Giving

Well folks, I've been home for approximately 6 hours and this place is already nutty. As I'm sitting in the kitchen with my mom this evening, having already baked 2 pies and burnt my hand in the process, in comes my dad a little freaked out.
Dad: "So I think someone stole the Civic."
Mom: "No it was parked in the field."
Me: "Yeah it was in the field when I got home."
Dad: "Well it's not out there now."

So we all go running out the front door to the field to prove to Dad that the car hasn't been stolen. But of course, the car is gone. My dad is thinking about everything that was in the car, roaming around outside while I call my brother - who just left the house - to ask if the car was there when he left. He then informs me that is driving the Honda. I then ask him which Honda he's driving, since as a family we own 4 of them. Of course I've driven 3 of them, so asking him "are you driving the one I used to drive" doesn't really help the situation. For some reason my brother didn't drive his car home from work - not sure how he got home. So he took my dad's car out for the night. Anyway that phone call puts to rest the thoughts of the car being stolen, and allows us to all start laughing. Well, allows me and my mom to start laughing and my dad to insist that the thought of having a car stolen isn't really all that funny and almost gave him a heart attack. Good thing we didn't call and report the car stolen. I don't think my brother's girlfriend would have found it funny to be pulled over for grand theft auto.

  1. The sad part is that the thought of someone stealing a car from our yard is so readily believable. It could have happened.....
